David PiemonteCape Ann photographer David Piemonte draws much of his artistic inspiration from the simplicity of nature and the symmetry between shadows and light.  It is this balance that creates the mood and depth of his images.

After attending New England School of Photography in Boston, David decided to spend some time traveling throughout Europe.  The six months he spent there would prove to be a pivotal time in his artistic career, particularly during his visit to Venice where he discovered the beauty and solitude of night photography.  It was there, in the late hours of the night, camera and tripod in hand, that he had that floating city all to himself.  He continues his search for nocturnal landscapes to this day . . . or night.

David has resided on Cape Ann since 1980 and has exhibited his award-winning photographs in numerous venues over the years.  He works exclusively with traditional black and white film to create his silver gelatin photographs.  Each one is developed and printed by hand in his darkroom using archival processing techniques that he has refined over the years.
