The landscape is a source of continuous inspiration for me. Having worked as an architect for many years, the landscape has always been an important component of my work. I am very interested in composition and form. The changing effects of light, and how it describes form intrigue me. Oil painting has provided me with the vocabulary to explore and express these interests.
To look at the real world, to select a portion of it, to design a scene that captures the essence of the place and reflects that specific moment in time, and to finally draw the viewer into the scene -- that is my goal.
I am a plein air painter; my paintings are executed on site. I have painted in Canada, France, Italy, Mexico, Venezuela, and in numerous locations in New England.
