NEW MEMBER CALL TO ARTISTS
The Salted Cod Gallery Artist has an open call for new artist members at the Salted Cod Arthouse. If interested, please email your name, contact information, and the medium of your work to saltedcodoperations@rockyneckartcolony.org. The jury members will also need to see examples of your work (see below).
The jury members will also need to see examples of your work. Please drop off work upstairs at the Salted Cod Arthouse on Sunday March 9, 4pm-6pm and Monday, March 10, 11 am-1pm. Pick up your work on Wednesday, March 12 between 3pm-5 pm.
To be considered, you must be willing to gallery sit approximately 8-10 hours per month. You cannot be showing your work in other galleries on Rocky Neck (except the Cove and CC galleries). We only have space for very few members, and cannot accept jewelers this year. If accepted, you will need to join the Rocky Neck Art Colony; membership is $100 per year.
Artists receive 75% of their sales, with 25% going to RNAC.
New Member Information & Application
The Salted Cod Arthouse on Rocky Neck is home to a juried gallery under the auspices of the Rocky Neck Art Colony galleries. It is run like a co-operative, where all members share in the duties related to operating the gallery. It is open year-round. RNAC takes a 25% commission on artwork sold with 75% going to the artist.
Membership Requirements
· Must be artists members of Rocky Neck Art Colony.
· Must gallery-sit approximately 8-10 hours per month and contribute additional volunteer hours as needed.
· Artwork submitted for sale in gallery must be hand-made by the artist and original.
· Artist’s work cannot be for sale in any other gallery on Rocky Neck except for the Cove Gallery and the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck.
· Artists pay $50 deposit if accepted into the gallery. The deposit can be returned at the end of a season if the artist leaves the gallery.
They are two seasons, April to October and November to March.
Deadlines
Please include: Name, Address, Phone, Email, Website, Artist Statement and/or resume, description of the type of work you will be submitting. Also include any special skills you could contribute, such as graphic design, marketing, display skills, computer skills, etc.
If you would like to have your work juried, please bring 5 gallery-ready samples of each medium you wish to enter.
Drop off work for Jury upstairs at the Salted Cod Arthouse on Sunday March 9, 4pm-6pm and Monday, March 10, 11 am-1pm. Pick up your work on Wednesday, March 23 between 3pm-5 pm.
Jurying
Gallery members and RNAC representatives will select new artists based on creativity, technical skill, marketability, presentation, and appropriateness. Work that is very similar to an existing member’s may not be accepted. Artists will be notified of the decision shortly after the Jury.
