he Rocky Neck 5K & Team Challenge is a community ‘happening’ that benefits a neighborhood-based, volunteer organization committed to preserving Rocky Neck’s unique arts and maritime cultural heritage. The event offers lots of FUN for lots of people! Nearly anyone can run or walk this event. Beginners can get a taste of what exercise and outdoor enjoyment bring. Experienced runners can sharpen their times on a forgiving course. Any kind of group will find it especially rewarding to compete as a team and/or with family and friends.
The Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC), a section 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization established in 1974, is a preeminent destination for creative achievement and spirited community. With over 200 artist and community members, RNAC is dedicated to the economic and cultural vitality of the Rocky Neck community. We provide year-round opportunities for educational and professional development in the arts, including lectures, workshops, exhibitions, scholarships and residencies. At the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, an historic 1877 former chapel, we provide year-round space for arts, cultural and community programming. RNAC has become a cornerstone of Gloucester’s vibrant arts scene as the lead partner in the Rocky Neck Cultural District, promoting cultural partnerships and collaborative programming. The critical work of the RNAC in the region is made possible, not only through membership and art sales, but also by the ongoing support of businesses, institutions, foundations and generous individuals.
