Gloucester MA—ROCKY NECK ART COLONY (RNAC) is proud to
present Ruth Mordecai, Early Work: 1970-2000. The special exhibit is a
fundraiser to support the Rocky Neck Art Colony and its residency program
called the Goetemann Artist Residency.
Ruth Mordecai’s long and illustrious career began with an exploration of
the figure. Her work in sculpture, drawing, collage and painting has
gradually become more abstracted, as she discovered her own personal
visual language. This exhibit offers work never seen in Gloucester, and a
chance to witness the origins of one of our most distinguished artist’s
journey over 30 years.
Ruth’s home studio is on Rocky Neck overlooking Smith Cove. She has
been involved with the Goetemann Artist Residency since 2005, when it
was founded by Gordon Goetemann. Ruth is a cherished member of the
community, as a mentor and stalwart advocate to the many artists and
galleries on Rocky Neck. She has offered this exhibit as a fundraiser and
will include many of her small drawings, and some large figurative
collages, as well as a painting by Gordon Goetemann given by his son
David Goetemann.
The public is invited to celebrate Ruth Mordecai, Early Work: 1970-2000
at the Opening Reception on Saturday, November 4, 2-4 PM. View the art,
meet the artist and enjoy light refreshments, beverages and ever-lively
conversation.
