On Day One, the class will create ink washes from simple forms to get comfortable with light and dark as well as composition. On Day Two, the focus will be on painting a colorful still life with water colors.
WORKSHOP FULL – Painting the Portrait with Amy
Two-Day Class: April 22 & 23, 10:30am – 3:30pm
Cost: $200 for RNAC members; $250 for non-RNAC members
Back by popular demand, hone your skills at this two-day portrait painting class led by Amy Sudarsky. We’ll be working with the same model both days, so there’ll be plenty of time to sink into all the basics. As usual, Amy will guide us along, incorporating, planar changes, structure, color and light. Bring the painting materials of your choice (no turps, please).
Life Drawing at Rocky Neck
Weekly Session: MONDAYS, 1pm-4pm
Cost: $20 for RNAC members; $25 for nonmembers
Drawing the figure is not easy, but your comfort and skills will soar with regular practice. That’s the goal of the weekly Life Drawing at Rocky Neck, which has been held since 2018. We meet every Monday afternoon, from 1pm to 4pm, upstairs at the beautiful Cultural Center at Rocky Neck. Each session is drop-in, featuring a different professional model.
Poses vary in length, ranging from 3-minute gestural warm-ups to extended 40-minute single poses. We provide 10 easels, a few tables, and a very supportive group of artists, from beginners to the accomplished.
We are a fun group who believes that if you can draw the figure, you can draw anything. And that practice makes, if not perfect, at least a bit better each week.
