Ocean School Collective Performance

Join the Ocean School Collective (OSC) as they present the work resulting from their Goetemann Artist Residency* at the Paint Factory.

OSC is an art collective made up of visual artists, philosophers, poets, and musicians from Boston’s North Shore and Cape Ann who have been doing artistic research in the archives of Ocean Alliance on Rocky Neck since 2022. With a core group of three individuals and several adjunct members, we design installations, performances, and creative public education events in order to promote an environmental ethic called “ocean thinking.” We aim to expand the cultural sphere to include the world of whales…this is ocean thinking! We use new media art to combine strategies of creative storytelling and narrative with the imagining of future technologies of ocean conservation science, which has been the work of Ocean Alliance for over 50 years. Our work opens creative space for artists, scientists, technologists, and whales to meet together “in the safety of the song.”
