Elemental, curated by Meredith Anderson and Ginger Myhaver is an invitational group show featuring the work of six exceptional artists working within various traditions of minimalist abstraction: Mary Bucci McCoy, Helen Duncan, Seth Goldfine, Ann Ledy, Joe Lovasco, and Constance Vallis. Using elemental materials, shapes and colors, the works all explore or exploit physical edges, both soft and hard, concretizing, materially and compositionally, a profound sense of our unsettled – and unsettling – cultural moment. Taken together, the artworks seem to express the polarities and precarity but also the possibilities inherent in the present state of affairs.
