Artist Demo: Meet the Murphy Bros at the RNAC Member Showcase

Join Brian Murphy and Bob Murphy, two of the featured artists in the Member Showcase, for a hands-on presentation of their artwork at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck Art Colony. (Full disclosure: Brian and Bob are friends and neighbors, but not brothers. Well, maybe “bros.”)

First up, Brian will share the stories and surprises behind his ubiquitous Artwork Animals, revealing his scrounging secrets, favorite finds, and the unexpected materials that inspire each creature. Just like on Antiques Roadshow, attendees are invited to bring an intriguing scrap or oddity and challenge him to uncover the art—and the animal—hidden within it.

Bob follows with a look at the odd rooms and evocative street corners he captures in pastels. Hear the inspiration behind these scenes, the stories they tell, and what draws him to these unique moments of place and light.

The Member Showcase is the final exhibition of the season, featuring seven distinctive bodies of work by John Bassett, Michelle Champion, Eser Costanza, Joanne Hurd, Patricia Scialo, Brian Murphy, and R. D. Murphy, selected by juror Shana Dumont Garr. This show is on display through December 7.
