Distinguished Artist Teacher (DA/T)
Initiated in 2007 by former Goetemann Artist Residency Director, Ruth Mordecai, The Distinguished Artist/Teacher program brings to Rocky Neck an artist with a national reputation.
This year Rocky Neck Art Colony announced the selection of Clara Lieu as distinguished Artist/Teacher for 2017. She begins her week-long stay by presenting a lecture at Gloucester’s Cape Ann Museum www.capeannmuseum.org
The lecture is followed by a highly anticipated 3-4 day workshop for area artists.
As the Distinguished Artist/Teacher, Clara Lieu may also spend time making studio visits.

Clara Lieu, a professor, writer, and visual artist has been chosen as The GAR Distinguished Artist/Teacher for 2017. Lieu’s practice uses drawing, printmaking, and sculpture as a means to explore the extremes of human emotion. Currently teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design, Professor Lieu will give a lecture about her work at The Cape Ann Museum on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Professor Lieu has received grants from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and the Puffin Foundation and is a Partner in ART PROF: a free, online educational platform for visual arts. As a guest of The Goetemann Artist Residency and The Rocky Neck Art Colony, she is leading a four-day workshop for participant artists, exploring personal stories as an inroad to art.
