My works reflects my fascination with color, texture, line and pattern. Generally a painting begins with a color idea, a marking or shapes and quickly evolves into an image utilizing surface materials. Layers of wax and oil paint are applied along with charcoal, ink, pastel and graphite. Scraping, sanding, staining, etching and scoring manipulate and rework each surface. My technique of adding and then "erasing" suggests discovery, transition, and growth. This allows me to make work that is both honest and authentic.
