My collages and paintings are inspired by my love of color, the ocean, sand, and sky.  In the winter, I also tend to gravitate towards trees and bare branches. I currently live on a street with lots of big old trees, and I am so grateful for images they have provided me with during the colder months.

My larger acrylic paintings tend focus on a particular object, or scene that has stuck in my mind. I use several canvases to create each piece. I've always enjoyed puzzles, and like the idea of smaller pieces that work together to make something.  I also like the idea that what I've created could be expanded or minimized or reshaped according to whim.

My collages are also a direct result of my love of color. These pictures allow me to use several different kinds of paint, and to re-purpose the random photographs that I take each week, which is very satisfying. I believe that the empty spaces of my collages are as important as the spaces that I fill will color and/or photographs. I enjoy the spontaneity of creating these pieces.  It's very satisfying to start with random pieces of colored paper and odd photos, and to end up with something that somehow expresses my thoughts and feelings of the moment.

Although I am currently settled in Melrose, Massachusetts, I am so happy to be included with the wonderful artists at the Rocky Neck Art Colony. I visit Gloucester frequently, and have drawn much inspiration from foggy mornings at Stage Fort Park, and lovely days at Wingaersheek and Long beach.
