Because Devera's father was a magazine photographer, she grew up surrounded by photographs (and contact sheets) and has always loved anything to do with photography. Her career as an illustrator for magazines (The New Yorker among them), newspapers, and book publishers kept her busy, but she's always taken photographs. Since moving to Gloucester she's been taking photos of this area, with its fishing boats, light, sea, and reflections.

Devera studied illustration at the School of Visual Arts and painting at The Art Students League in New York and attended Bard College. She is listed in the Washington, DC database of The National Museum of Women in the Arts.Devera is a juried in member of the Rockport Art Association and a member of the Rocky Neck Art Association in Gloucester, MA.
